Moonflower Roots (Petrarchan Sonnet by Maddie)

Flushed buds peel open pearl blossoms in spring
newborn roots, in preparation to sprout
fibrous matter traveling up a route
connecting soil and water that sings
to petals, who leap with gossamer wings.
Pollen expels even in a sere drought
under tingling sun rays without a doubt,
ripe scents belting chords and notes, lingering.

Roots traveling deep into a clear sky
dilating, winding against nature’s seal
curvatures like threads wrapped around spindles,
twisting southern paths where hummingbirds fly,
green twine embraces golden light, surreal,
beckoning to moon’s glow like white angels.
